Most every creature caught something to eat at the Salt Marsh in Inwood Hill Park on the morning of Friday, October 6, 2023.

Conditions were foggy.

An Osprey was there, and also the resident Great Egret and a Great Blue Heron. The Mallards were out in force along with a gallery of gulls.

A Herring Gull caught a crab.

An Osprey caught a bigger fish.

The star of the show of late has been a Green Heron that forages along the shoreline. Often the heron may be found in company of the Great Egret but this morning it was off by itself. The little heron caught a little sardine-type fish (cover image).

The Green Heron often leans forward when hunting. It looks like it may collapse into the water, down into its close reflection.
