Typical sightings in Inwood during December include ongoing hawks (Red-tailed and Cooper’s), woodpecker varieties, Carolina Wrens and Winter Wrens, a resident Great Blue Heron at the Salt Marsh, a Belted Kingfisher, a variety of sparrows, common water birds, and one or two Northern Mockingbirds.
Popular winter birds such Black-capped Chickadees, Dark-eyed Juncos, White-breasted Nuthatches, White-throated Sparrows, and Tufted Titmice will likely continue. Park regulars include Northern Cardinals, Mourning Doves, and Blue Jays.

Owls may be present at this time of year. Out of respect to their sensitive nature, I will not report these sightings.
