A visual journal exploring the birds of Inwood and Northern Manhattan by Teri Tynes

Sightings Summer 2025 – June 2025

Location is Inwood Hill Park except where noted. This page will be updated throughout the month.

Typically, June begins the summer season at the Salt Marsh with increased sightings of Great Egrets, Ospreys, Great Blue Herons, Black-crowned Night Herons, and other members of the heron family. Baby and juvenile birds will be learning the ways of their parents. On warm days, look for birds bathing in the natural springs. Cedar Waxwings may be around to eat ripening berries. The Baltimore Orioles continue their summer residency.
