Sightings Summer 2025 – July 2025

Regular sightings for the month of July 2025.

In July, activity in the marshes pick up with frequent sightings of Great Egrets, Great Blue Herons, Black-crowned Night Herons, several types of gulls, and waterfowl. Juveniles are present as well.

Sherman Creek Park – July 23, 2025

All the herons were there in Sherman Creek Park, a waterfront park on the Harlem River along Inwood’s east side. 

An hour and a half before low tide, members of the heron family foraged in the waters. Three Killdeer wandered the muddy flats. A Great Black-backed Gull perched on one of the piers. So, too did a Double-crested Cormorant. Read more in this new post.
