A visual journal exploring the birds of Inwood and Northern Manhattan by Teri Tynes

Sightings Fall 2025 – November 2025

Everyday sightings for the month of November 2025. As of early November, many of the winter birds have returned including Tufted Titmice, Dark-eyed Juncos, White-breasted Nuthatches, and White-throated Sparrows.

Look for fall season migratory birds like kinglets and the random flocks of Cedar Waxwings. On November 1, 2025, I observed perhaps two dozen Cedar Waxwings, many of them juveniles, at the top of the ridge.

Red-tailed Hawks are present. Currently, two adults and two adolescent hawks are roaming the park. An American Kestrel and a Merlin may be observed.

Look for Belted Kingfishers and Great Blue Herons at the marsh. Woodpeckers are abundant at this time of year.
