A visual journal exploring the birds of Inwood and Northern Manhattan by Teri Tynes

Landscapes and Map

The birds live in diverse ecosystems within Northern Manhattan. Inwood Hill Park, operated by the New York Department of Parks and Recreation, contains the largest remaining old-growth forest on the island of Manhattan.

Inwood Hill Park

Inwood Hill Park is the northernmost park on the island of Manhattan. A heavily contoured and hilly site, the park is easily explored through a color-coded trail system.

A park map located on a trail near one of the highest sections of the park. The lofty spot is a particularly good place to see warblers in migration.
